Participation and Activity Limitation Survey 2006: Facts on Hearing Limitations - The following fact sheet is a profile of Canadians 15 years of age and older, who reported having a hearing limitation. It is important to note that this includes people who are completely deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or have some hearing loss. This fact sheet examines the areas of education, employment, computer usage, and aids and assistive devices.

Among all occupational hazards, noise is the biggest cause of permanent disability claims settled by the Worker's Compensation Board in Ontario. For the 1,121 claims settled in 1988, at least $13 million will eventually be paid out on hearing loss claims.
