We’re thrilled to announce that CHHA has received $2.5 million in funding from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program to launch a five-year initiative: Fostering Inclusive Communities for Seniors (FICS) with Hearing Loss.
The FICS Project focuses on reducing barriers and promoting social inclusion for vulnerable seniors with hearing loss in underrepresented communities across Ottawa—including newcomers, immigrants, BIPOC and Indigenous seniors, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those living with disabilities.
Through partnerships with nine local community organizations, CHHA will work to reconnect seniors to their communities and create lasting, inclusive change.
“This funding allows us to create targeted, sustainable solutions that foster genuine inclusion.”
— Ann McSweeney, CHHA National Executive Director
The project runs from March 2025 to February 2030.
